About

This site would have been live nine months ago if I could have just finished this "About Mitch" page.

Who am I kidding writing about "if I could have just finished" this page? The truth is, I could never get past the first sentence or two. So this time, we are going to do it differently. I will write as if we were sitting in a room talking.

For as long as I remember, I've been a writer. I am not talking about writing professionally, though I have done some of that. I'm talking about writing as my true passion, writing as my therapy, and my creative escape. Frankly, it's my preferred way to have hard conversations, not because I fear face-to-face interaction, but because I genuinely believe that it allows people to get out what they need to say without interruptions or getting off-topic. There isn't any yelling or storming off. It's complete thoughts (mainly) constructed with meaning and feeling.

So why is it so hard to write an "about Mitch" for what may appear to be a meaningless website?

Just a few reasons that come to mind:

Fear. What if it's not funny enough? (some will get this joke, most not-- I'm sure I'll explain this in a later post.) What if people don't like my writing? What if I can't write anymore?

Confusion. I don't know where to start or what is essential and what isn't. And that is because I don't have a replanned direction for this site. So I have no expectations of any actual outcome.

But I know I need to start somewhere. So here we go.

How about we run down some quick facts:

  • I'm the Head of Marketing for a fascinating startup. I've spent nearly 20 years working in marketing and am still incredibly passionate about my work.
  • I'm an Aquarius, for whatever that is worth. (No, really, someone, please explain to me what that means!) Hopefully, this can help explain why I am downright awful at relationships?!?
  • Some of my hobbies include Basketball, movies, great food, kickball, sports betting, a great book, and I love writing.
  • Sports:
  • Basketball: Boston Celtics
  • Baseball: Atlanta Braves
  • Football: Arizona Cardinals
  • Hockey: Playoff Hockey
  • The Ponies: Always whoever is in Lane 4.
  • My favorite song is Love never felt so good by Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake.
  • More to come I guess

The truth is I'm here writing this for one reason; I NEED to write. I need to do it for my mental health. Who knows what I'll write about here? Maybe it'll get super personal; maybe I'll write more about marketing, or perhaps I will write an entirely fictional piece here. We don't know!!

I hope to get back to the point where I am writing each day. I don't expect to post everything I write, but I want it to become practice again. I want it to be a significant part of my life again. Things are always better when I'm writing.

This page will forever be a work in progress..  Wait that is an excellent title for a post "Forever a Work in Progress!"
